Jonáš (CZ) Kirchner
Hello.
My name is Jonáš Kirchner and I am 22 years old. I come from Opava, Czech Republic. I’m currently studying graphic design at Brno University of Technology, where I am in the third year of my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design Studio 2. I have recently returned from a study internship that I completed at Department of Interactive Media Design at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, Netherlands.
I use new technologies, but they don't stand alone, the output from them has added value. I look for ways to make things functional and rewarding rather than just aesthetically pleasing. I think about my projects for the benefit of the user, design, or art. My primary focus in my work is on interactivity and the experience of it. I try to get to this goal not only by using the new technologies that today's era offers, but also by using analogue approaches.

Visualize It
2025
Visualize It is a collection of audio reactive visualizations of music, where I tried to create an appropriate visual representation for each song. For each rehearsal, I tried to apply the audio track to the different parameters that TouchDesigner offers. The audio track is applied to various parameters that TouchDesigner offers such as size, noise, color.
Lost Boy
2024
"Love is beautiful, but money is powerful."This and similar phrases must be faced by the boy you see before you. A boy who's been pressured from a young age to make a lot of money. He is subjected to this pressure on social media. He's constantly being told to work on himself, to have a business, and the only value is money. But we as viewers can't help him, nor could we if we wanted to. That's not our role. We may be able to comfort him with a touch or maybe just watch him, but none of that will help him. All we can do is to mend his stretched skin and have him as an exemplar for future times.
This object was part of an art exhibiton at National Library of The Netherlands. It attempts to reflect the process of creating the fourteenth-century manuscripts in the National's Library collection, and brings the process to life through contemporary subject matter and technology.
Option 2

Andy Warhol once said:
“Making money is art and workingis art and good business is the best art.”
Is it?
Humourous interactive installation that criticizes commercialization of art on example of Andy Warhol's work
The visuals on two screens are displaying quote from Andy Warhol and my reaction on it. Visitors then can explore these two statements via their body as they are moving in front of Xbox Kinect camera. TouchDesigner was used for depicting the visuals of Andy Warhol.

2024
I missed speaking Czech during my study stay in The Hague. Thanks to this fact, I wanted to teach other students a little bit of my native language. The final result of my project is an interactive learning tool based on repetition and body movement.
Users can control the image displayed on the computer screen and the sound with their hands. The images and sounds represent Czech words. It is up to the user to try to find which image belongs to the sound and the other way around.
Blobs
2024
Wanting to see each other. To want to see yourself disappear or become bigger. To be trapped in your bubble and not be able to burst it. It just multiplies in number and size. Blobs are a project, to make these situations and feelings accessible and multiply.
Blobs use the Javascript function of Canvas. The bigger Blob always eats the smaller one. Format comes in from Agar.io.

Choose
& Draw
2024
Choose and Draw is an online place that allows you to forget for a while. Choose an emoji and draw.
Emojis next to each other create new meanings.
Choose & Draw offers you the space to express yourself artistically in a digital space. The website uses the Javascript function of Canvas. The final drawing is temporary and can be started all over again.

Reading
Receipts
2024
Reading Receipts is a project in which 3 people read texts printed on a long receipt. The texts come from different sources and are all related to the topic of consumerism as an actor of design.
This project was created as part of the “Reading Rooms” workshop with Mark Foss in the Studio of Graphic Design 2, FFA BUT.
Participants: Klaudia Ďugelová, Matyáš Hrubý
The event took place in the Brněnka grocery store in Brno (Veveří), visitors were given a copy of the Reading Receipts publication printed on a receipt.
Change
2024
How can we perceive text, letters, their
relationships and topology differently than before?
I asked myself this question at the beginning
of the project. The result is letters at a scale we
don’t normally encounter. They are bigger than a person.
The visitor discovers a virtual space that was created in Blender and Adobe Aero, using an AR DIY headset. The letters can be bypassed or walked into. And it is up to the visitor to try to understand what word I am trying to convey. The letters are then accompanied by quotes from the book Technodiversity by the
philosopher Yuk Hui.

Karla
2024
For the exhibition of the Graphic Design Studio 2 in Brno, together with Anna Poláková, we created its visual identity. For this occasion we worked a fictional person
“Karla“ who was the mascot of the exhibition. The result was a promotional video, a poster and an orientation system for the exhibition.Karla was created in Metahuman for Unreal Engine.

Human as
a tool
2024
In these tries, my goal was to use my body to interact with letters and words. Through tracking on hands, fingers, and mouth I was searching for a “new” graphic designer tool, not a mouse but the body.
The letters move based on my body movement,
I achieved this effect using the MediaPipe plugin for TouchDesigner.

Unreal me
2023
I tried to capture my body and facial movements in Unreal Engine with the help of some motion tracking software. For these tries I recreated myself in Metahuman. I am fascinated by what the virtual self can do when I am doing movements in my room in real-time.
I used third party programs like Move AI and LiveLink Face to move the body and face in Unreal Engine.
I replaced the base Unreal Engine avatar with an avatar that I created in Metahuman.

zuzkyveci
2023
zuzkyveci is Zuzana Vepřeková’s web portfolio.
It tries to contextualize the thinking, the process and the making itself. It surrounds you from all sides, audio, visual and informational. The web gradually becomes a somewhat uncontrolled chaos.
And it’s up to you how you consume it.
Move it, remove it.
zuzkyveci are based on pop-up windows, the visitor can move or close them. The windows are displayed based on the time where the video is, so they are referential. Chaos is created when the visitor does not close or move any windows as they are layered over each other. It is therefore up to the site visitor how they want to consume the content.

PSGD Brno
2022
My classmate Margarita Ryzhakova and I organized a meeting of graphic design students from colleges around the country. Several graphic design studios from different universities came and we had a debate amongst ourselves about whether there should be a platform for students of graphic design at all and what it should possibly look like. And how this platform would be opened to the public. The meeting was held in response to the end of the Brno Biennial.
The conference took place on 7 December 2022 at the Faculty of Fine Arts Brno University of Technology. Graphic design studios from all universities in the Czech Republic came.

DO NOT
LET
IT BE
2021
In an unconventional form of poster, I draw atttention to the wrong terraforming path to which we contribute, thanks to our ruthlessness as humans.
The poster consists of a "box" that is printed on a 3D printer, the material is chosen as partially transparent, thus I tried to connect the natural side of the project and the technical one. The grass can be watered. The whole object is then conceived as a home flower bed.
